Description
This Nike Dunk Low CO.JP “What The” is rich with sneakerhead history. As sneakerheads long for the days of regional exclusives and footwear buying trips to Japan, Nike gives a taste of the good old days with this “What The CO.JP” Dunk Low. Originally releasing in Japan back in 2017, many were under the impression that this “What The” edition was long gone, with the possibility of a retro at least another decade from now.
Many clued up on the history and culture behind the Dunk will recognise that this Dunk is a mashup of the six different Be True To Your School editions from 1985. These include the “Michigan”, “Syracuse”, “St. John’s”, “Kentucky”, “UNLV” and “Villanova” make-ups which all represented the respective University team colours.
Typical of the “What The” theme, the mismatched uppers combine all the iconic Be True make-ups into one shoe. Mixing a number of hues while not the easy to wear, certainly will leave an impression and snap a few necks. Arriving in a standard leather build and traditional Dunk tooling, the sockliner on the inside reads CO.JP as a direct nod to the ‘Concept Japan’ era or the specific URL of the Nike Japan site (depending on which one you believe). The woven Nike label also embraces the motif, with each letter from the futura font logo dressed in a different colour.
It’s becoming more and more rare for the Dunk Low to receive the infamous “What The” treatment, so be sure to set up a release reminder by hitting the “Notify me” bell icon. Find out where to buy the Nike Dunk Low CO.JP “What The” by keeping it locked to The Sole Supplier!
